SIX KILLED IN FATAL CRASH ON GIREI ROAD, ADAMAWA POLICE CONFIRM
Six persons have been confirmed dead following a fatal motor accident that occurred on Thursday, 4th September, 2026, along Girei Road in Adamawa State, the Police Command has said.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Adamawa State Police Command said it received report of the crash and immediately responded to the scene. The victims were evacuated to a hospital where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
According to the preliminary report released by the Command, the accident claimed six lives. Details of what led to the crash are yet to be fully established as investigations are ongoing.
Police operatives from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing, and the Central Motor Traffic Division were deployed to the location. Their intervention helped to evacuate the victims, clear the wreckage, and restore normal flow of traffic on the busy route.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan,has commiserated with the families of the deceased. He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
CP Hassan also appealed to residents to remain calm while the Command concludes its investigation. He assured that further details will be communicated to the public as more information becomes available.
In a renewed call for road safety, the Commissioner urged motorists in the state to drive with caution, obey traffic rules, and avoid overspeeding. He warned that reckless driving remains one of the leading causes of fatal accidents on Adamawa roads.
The Command reiterated its commitment to working with relevant agencies to enforce traffic laws and reduce crashes, especially on major highways like Girei Road. Police authorities said public cooperation is critical to preventing further loss of lives.
